Did these a few months ago to get back in the swing of doing sequentials. Since they were just for practice I pretty much drew straight onto the page after doing a rough thumbnail.

Hair

I was doing a little coffee shop sketching and feeling fairly uninspired when this guy and his hair walked by the window. So I commenced to doodling and failed to notice that the guy came in, bought an espresso and sat down at the bar right next to me. I've never been busted by anyone who caught me sketching them and luckily this guy shotgunned his drink and was back out the door in about 8 seconds so I think I was safe...or maybe he was just mad that I didn't capture the essence of that hair.

Walking in the Treme

A warm up/cool down sketch that kind of looks like the drug addicted musician from Treme (I think there's just one but I've only seen a few episodes). I wasn't going for a likeness or trying to draw anything from the show but I did have the theme song stuck in my head all day.

Brushpen, markers, and some crap bristol that's like inking on stucco.

Superman

I can't remember ever drawing Superman so here you go. My wife's first reaction when she saw this on my monitor "He looks a bit...prance-y" I suppose she's right, but even Superman's gotta dance.

Saw this the other day...the little guy in full motorcycle gear couldn't seem to figure out where he'd left his bike so he was awkwardly jogging up and down the sidewalk looking for it. I'm sure his motorcycle and all his equipment usually make this guy feel pretty cool but full motorcycle gear minus the motorcycle equals pretty funny to me. Just a sketch to test out some new quills and brushes.

I go to the gym, I see things and sometimes I draw them. This guy was legitimately scaring people as they walked into the weight room...And yes, I'm pretty sure his shirt said big body on it.

I've been gone a while, but I've got a good reason. After 7 years, I quit my Parks and Rec job (yup, like the tv show) to move across the Atlantic, from California to London, and restart my freelance career. I still don't have real, in-home internet yet but hopefully that'll get sorted out in the next couple weeks.

I'm also thinking of opening up commissions and possibly putting out a digital sketchbook but I'll post more on that in a bit but if anyone's interested just shoot me a note through this site.

Zombie Process

Trying out a new technique.

I took a quick sketch and put down some quick marker tones on a sheet of tracing paper. Scanned them in separately and converted the marker tones to halftone dots in photoshop...lined everything up and put a gradient layer over the whole thing and set it to screen. I'm not sure if it's faster to lay in the tones digitally or by hand, but I kind of like teh way the effect turned out.

On a side note, I 'm not much of a zombie guy...I was probably watching too much Walking Dead when I sketched this up.

I was doing warm ups by sketching out of magazines and I dropped some quick inks and colors on this one. I had no intention of coloring him like the Joker but what's done is done.

Been a long time

Actually, it's been a very long time since I posted anything here. I usually post to my deviantart page http://tonybrescini.deviantart.com/ but I'll start updating both sites for the time being.

Without further ado, here's a Hulk sketch to kickstart the old sketchblog again (Staedtler Mars GD 3000 brushpen, Pro-White and Photoshop for the very hastily done halftones).
