Here's the process for a piece I put together for the Dark Horse's "Draw the Goon" contest. I found out about the contest a few hours before the deadline and had to knock this out pretty quickly.

Step 1: Quick sketch in my sketchbook that I scan, blow up and print out in blueline. Time permitting, I would have played around a bit at this stage to get a few more ideas out and on the paper.

Step 2: Loose pencils.

Step 3: Final inks. I don't generally pencil very tightly and do most of my actual drawing in ink but in this case, I wish I'd done a bit more of the prep work in pencil.

I may go back and add some tones in Photoshop to punch it up but overall I kind of like it.

Rollerskate Skinny

A warm up sketch that I got carried away with. Brought to you by the Old 97's Rollerskate Skinny.

Twitter Sketches

Some sketches from the Twitter. The monkey was a result of mixing jetlag with cold medicine, the preppy guy is from the sheer amount of dudes here in Singapore that pop their collars (it's like an island full of 80's movie villains) and the westside guy...um...that just happened. Also, I tend to update that more frequently since it's a bit easier to do. Sydney Travel Sketches

Some sketches from our trip to Sydney a couple weeks back. I usually just had my moleskin sketchbook and a pencil on me so there wasn't a chance to ink them, hope they show up OK. Australia was awesome by the way, I can't wait to get back there again.

Vietnam Travel Sketches

Some sketches from our trip to Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon and Hoi An last weekend. I don't often get a chance to sit down and draw on our trips so it was nice to squeeze these in.

Twitter sketches

I've been posting sketches to my Twitter since my computer and scanner have been in storage.  I've always considered myself a pretty traditional artist, however, 4 months of just having a sketchbook and some pens has been a bit frustrating.  But the computer and scanner have been delivered so here's a collection of said twitter sketches along with a couple photoshop sketches for good measure.

This guy was sketched up while listening to the Gaslight Anthem's Say I Won't (Recogize) listen here
