Here's the process for a piece I put together for the Dark Horse's "Draw the Goon" contest. I found out about the contest a few hours before the deadline and had to knock this out pretty quickly.

Step 1: Quick sketch in my sketchbook that I scan, blow up and print out in blueline. Time permitting, I would have played around a bit at this stage to get a few more ideas out and on the paper.

Step 2: Loose pencils.

Step 3: Final inks. I don't generally pencil very tightly and do most of my actual drawing in ink but in this case, I wish I'd done a bit more of the prep work in pencil.

I may go back and add some tones in Photoshop to punch it up but overall I kind of like it.
